Richard Stacey Liedtke was born in Newark to Mildred and Norman Liedtke. He grew up in Verona and graduated from Verona High School in 1971. He retained a strong affection for his hometown and stayed in touch with friends and classmates. He moved to Arizona in 1977 when his employer, American Airlines offered him an opportunity to transfer from Newark airport to the growing Phoenix area. Rick worked in various union positions throughout his 29-year career at American including crew chief. He was proud of the fact that he only had five sick days in his 29 years.
Known for his quiet and quick sense of humor, Rick was also a lover of all animals especially dogs. He was an avid dog owner and was devoted to his Rottweilers especially Trigger. He was also a lover of the outdoors….A hunter, fisherman, and outdoors man. As a young man he would camp out in the wilderness on a routine basis. Rick was a talented mechanic and could fix almost anything. Finding him working on an old car was not unusual. He collected Indian artifacts. He was devoted to his friends and would always a help a friend in need. His home was open and welcoming. He was fun loving, easy going, kind and generous. He enjoyed his independence and was extremely self-reliant.
Rick will be missed by many.
