Mr. Michael J. Marrese, 72, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2022 at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, surrounded by his loving family.
Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona will be on Friday, October 28 from 4 to 7 p.m.
A funeral mass will be offered on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Lakeside Ave., Verona.
Born in Forenza, Italy, Mr. Marrese immigrated to the United States when he was seven years old and lived in Newark for a short time. He lived in Verona for many years before moving to Fairfield in 2015.
He served as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves until 1974.
Mr. Marrese attended Bloomfield Tech and became a licensed electrician. He was a member of the IBEW Local # 102 and owned Star Brite Electric and M.J. Marrese Electric.
He enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends over food and drinks.
Mr. Marrese was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Adelina (nee Brienza) Marrese and his sister, Antoinette Marrese.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Patricia “Pat” (nee McNulty) Marrese and his loving children, Anthony Marrese (and his fiancée, Julie) and Alexandra Marrese. He is the proud uncle to many “favorite” nieces and nephews and is also survived by his siblings, Maria Marrese and Victor Marrese.
