Mrs. Kathleen Frances (nee Mulligan) Haughney, 82, passed peacefully on May 4, 2021 at home in Verona.
Visiting will be held in the Prout Funeral Home (370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona, NJ) on Thursday, May 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated in the Our Lady of the Lake Church on Friday, May 7 at 10:30 a.m. Face masks and social distancing will be required.
Born in Manhattan and raised in Rego Park, Queens, Mrs. Haughney lived in Cranford, N.J. for 47 years before moving to Verona in 2020.
She worked as a secretary for Allstate Legal in Kenilworth. Mrs. Haughney was a member of St. Michael’s Church in Cranford as well as St. Theresa’s in Kenilworth. She will be remembered as an avid tennis player.
It is a rare gift that someone isn’t afraid to be who they are, and Kathleen Haughney was completely herself. Generous, ferocious, rebellious, funny and exceedingly loving – an exceptional and stylish human being – she will be sorely missed.
Mrs. Haughney is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Patrick Haughney, beloved children, Brian Haughney (Eileen) and Anne Siller (Ed), cherished grandchildren, Charlotte, Wyatt, Duncan, Stella, Caroline, Patrick, Meaghan and Emmett and her siblings, Maureen McCarthy, Peggy Sheridan, John Mulligan and Loretta Slattery, and a host of loving nieces and nephews. She is also lovingly met by her mother, Bridget Mulligan, her father, Thomas Mulligan, and her niece, Kiran McCarthy in heaven.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation would be appreciated. Condolences may be left at proutfuneralhome.com.
