Thomas (Tom) Alexander Federico of Estero, Florida, died on Sunday, January 24, 2016 after losing a long, valiant battle with a variety of illnesses that eventually took his life but never did conquer his indomitable spirit. Born in Paterson to Thomas and Josephine (nee Latona) Federico, he lived most of his life in northern New Jersey before moving to Florida in 2013.

Tom was a graduate of Passaic High School and obtained a bachelor of arts degree in business from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Tom worked as a banker and branch manager for more than 20 years. He retired from the former National Westminster Bank in 1993. Tom also served as a sergeant in the New Jersey National Guard, where he witnessed the Newark riots of 1967 and helped to restore order. Most of all, though, Tom loved antiques, Civil War history, Italian food, world traveling, and conversation with everyone he met.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Antoinette (nee Savino), of 28 years, his three children, Thomas, Robert and James Federico, his sister, Joan Niemczyk, his former wife, Sandra (nee Yaskiw) Federico, seven grandchildren, and extended family and friends.

The funeral will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 29 from Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona with a Mass at 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Verona. Family and friends will also be received on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Prout Funeral Home.

Anyone wishing to make a donation in Tom’s memory can donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
