Mrs. Karen B. Holmes, 88, died on September 19, 2015 in Montville. Services will be held in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Wednesday, September 23 at 10 a.m. Visiting on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Holmes lived and raised her family in Verona prior to moving to Montville. She was a unit clerk at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston retiring in 1990 and continued as a volunteer for many years.
Mrs. Holmes was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Verona, serving as a deacon and usher, and helped organize Coffee Hour. She was also a Past President of the Verona Junior Women’s Club.
Mrs. Holmes was the wife of the late William T. Holmes, the devoted mother of William T. Holmes, Jr. ( Madeline), Jeffrey B. Holmes (Florence), Scott D. Holmes (Maureen) and Bradford A. Holmes (Donna). She is also survived by her brother, Robert Bausum (Judy), her beloved grandchildren, Tiffany, William, Courtney, Amanda, Mark, Bryan, Dawn and 4 great grandchildren. Her life was devoted to her family, church and community.
Memorial donations to First Presbyterian Church of Verona or the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated.
